Richmond
Alterations and additions to an existing home in Richmond, designed by 1+2 Architecture. The work reorganised the living end of the house into a single open kitchen, dining and living space with new full-height glazing to the garden and the Coal River Valley beyond.
The kitchen is built in sage green two-pack with a V-groove island, timber-lined tall cabinets, a black stone benchtop and a fully integrated pantry wall. The same green carries onto the living room feature wall around a new freestanding wood heater. Floors throughout are Tasmanian oak. New wet areas use large-format stone-look tile wall to floor, backlit mirrors, floating timber vanities with dark stone tops and frameless walk-in showers with recessed niches and linear drains. Joinery, tiling and the new steel-framed openings were set out to sit flush with the existing structure so the addition reads as one house.
